1. Purpose of Update

This note records a set of improvements made to the WhereWeLearn platform engine and confirms that the changes remain aligned with the charity’s purpose, governance principles, and non-negotiable boundaries.

The update is documented for transparency and future governance reference.

2. Nature of the Changes

A number of internal improvements were made to the platform engine responsible for organising and presenting learning resources.

These changes primarily focus on:

  • improving the structure and delivery of learning materials
  • simplifying internal data handling and processing
  • improving maintainability of the system over time
  • reducing technical friction in future development

The changes are internal system improvements and do not alter the fundamental role of WhereWeLearn as a connector and organiser of externally hosted educational resources.

3. Alignment with Charitable Purpose

The changes support the charitable object of advancing education for the public benefit by improving the system that helps people discover and organise free educational material.

The improvements strengthen:

  • discoverability of learning resources
  • reliability of the platform
  • long-term sustainability of the system

4. Confirmation of Non-Negotiables

The update does not change any of the following principles:

  • WhereWeLearn remains non-commercial
  • The platform continues to act as a connector rather than a content host
  • Access to learning remains free at the point of use
  • Privacy-first design and minimal data collection remain unchanged
  • No certification, accreditation, or commercial activity has been introduced

These principles remain protected under the Non-Negotiables vs Evolvables Charter.

5. Governance Classification

Under the Non-Negotiables vs Evolvables Charter, these changes fall within the Evolvables category, specifically:

  • Platform and technical implementation
  • Internal data structures and tooling
  • Improvements to system maintainability

No board approval is required for such internal technical improvements, though they are recorded here for governance transparency.

6. Impact on Users

No disruption to users is expected.

The improvements are intended to:

  • maintain system reliability
  • support future enhancements
  • ensure the platform remains sustainable as it evolves

7. Record of Stewardship

This document forms part of the ongoing governance record for WhereWeLearn and may be referenced in future board discussions or compliance reviews.
